With the goal to improve the ag-sector landscape of the country and strengthen the role of women entrepreneurs and SMEs based in the rural regions; ACDI/VOCA (Agricultural Cooperative Development International and Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance) and LightCastle Partners, in association with SACO (Social Advancement Community Organization) held a 2-day roadshow in the district of Barguna and its neighboring villages. The project, entitled “Unnoty”, was designed to scale up Women Ag-entrepreneurs and Ag-SMEs of Bangladesh, saw a resounding response from the women who work in the sector.
The initial phase of the project was a 2-day Roadshow, the first of which was held on the 19th of February, reaching neighboring villages like Keoraboniya, Kodomtola, Payra ghat, Purakata bazar, Aamtoli bazar, Mohishkata, to Golachipa, Candokhali, College gate, Kumrakhali, Kauniya, Kazirhat among others. The day-long roadshow attracted the community dwellers and over 40+ participants signed up for the accelerator program. The second part of the Roadshow was held on the following day, where 50+ women from areas such as Fuljhuri bazar, Sadar upozila, Boro Gourichonna, Bangabondhu Road and Mithai Potti, registered. The project team handed out leaflets of the accelerator program and briefed the applicants about the project; great interest and eagerness was received from the participants.
With support from SACO, the project reached out to 200+ female ag-entrepreneurs in the 2 days. More than 120 female entrepreneurs agreed to take part in the Bootcamp, which will take place in RDF Tower, Barguna, on 4th March. The event will be attended by sector experts of the country, along with representatives from ACDI/VOCA, LightCastle Partners and SACO.
